Founded in 1947 as mechanical workshop, today we employee more than 50 staff, working on facilities covering more than 3,000 m2 for customers all over the world.

High precision for high security

From a basic metal work business, manufacturing office furniture and equipment, Walter Wurster GmbH has developed into a provider of high-precision security equipment supplying not just clients in Germany, but in all of western Europe, eastern Europe, the Gulf states and Australia. Based on standard designs, the equipment is adapted to the exact requirements of each client.

“Rather than a mass producer of sheet metal we regard ourselves as a provider of tailor-made solutions for a very demanding clientele,” informs us Managing Director Holger Schneeberger. ” Our designs are developed in close operation with our clients and we employ the latest production technology and laser equipment to guarantee accuracy and quality.”

General metal work is still the main acivity of Wurster which manufactures sheet metal parts, profiles, roof windows, hatches, oven doors and photo-voltaic parts for the use in construction. Security equipment, the second product line, is constantly increasing in importance. Products in this field include serving hatches and windows for the exchange of money baggage, or documents for every security level from simpel office hatches or ticket-issuing windows. Wurster supplies complete security systems for banks, armoured car services, police offices, petrol stations, ticket counters, central banks and many other applications where security is an issue.

Founded in Stuttgart in 1947 by Walter Wurster as a mechanical workshop the company at first specialised in office equipment and steel furniture. In 1954 the business moved to Echterdingen and added sheet metal processing to its activities. From 1968, when it started to produce money serving hatches for bullet proof cashier´s desks, Dieter Wurster, son of Walter, joined the company haying completet his mechanical engineering studies. Security equipment began to play an increasingly important part in Wurster´s production programm.

The metal work specialist is now owned by Dieter Wurster, who shares management responsibilities with his son-in-law Holger Schneeberger. The company, which employs around 50 people, enjoys constant increases in turnover, 40% of which is realises by export activities. Foreign markets are becoming increasingly important for Wurster, especially in the current economic situation.

“ We are now at a point, where we need to decide in which direction we want to move in the future,” concludes Mr. Schneeberger. “While metal work will always be the basis of our operation, we are now looking into the development of new products and the introduction of new technologies”
