The ELEKTRA Ticket Reservations-System

What is ELEKTRA?

ELEKTRA is a newly developed software system for ticket reserervations and sales. The software supports everything from single user systems (e.g. movie theaters) to complex network clusters of geographically distributed systems (e.g. cooperating promoters) with remote points-of-sale.

ELEKTRA’s capabilities

ELEKTRA covers all aspects of box office information management - from the definition of seats, events, prices, reservation, booking, card printing, to billings. The user is informed about available seats all the time, can select seats with the mouse directly from the hall plan, reserve seats, reduct prices, book orders, accept payment, and print tickets.

What’s revolutionary about ELEKTRA?

ELEKTRA has been developed for Microsoft Windows and makes full use of Windows’s easy-to-use graphical user interface. MS/Window’s Online Help is available throughout the system, offering explanation on functions when needed. ELEKTRA operates entirely within MS/Windows, making entry of all required information as simple as possible. Right after a show has been defined, and enabled for reservation, tickets can be sold on all ELEKTRA PC’s connected to the network.

Economic advantages of ELEKTRA

As ELEKTRA runs on IBM PC AT-compatible systems, the costs for running the system are attractively low. ELEKTRA is an autonomous system, users are not required to cooperate with mainframes or network service providers.

The graphical representation of the hall layout, which shows seat category and reservation status for the selected show, gives the user all required information at a glance. New bookings are done easily by just selecting seats in the layout.

Addresses

ELEKTRA contains a complete address management function to store promoter, client, user and customer adresses. For debitors, an arbitrary number of ship-to adresses for debitors can be entered.

User and Access Privileges

Users are defined with name and password, and partitioned into user groups. Each user is given a set of privileges, for instance, the priviledge to define events, hallplans, or the right to book orders.

Events and Shows

The following information will be stored for events: Sponsor info’s, „GEMA“ tariff, hallpan and cardlayout number, theater name, admissible currencies (DM, SFr, FFR, US$, etc). For shows, the following will be stored (among other): Date and Time, Prices, Charges, Reductions, hallplan variant and variant of cardlayout (with/without sponsor-specific logos). Sales interval and advance charges, accepted credit cards, and the VAT percentage can also be defined.

Charges (e.g. order charges, cheque handling charges, mail order charges), licenses and reductions are calculated via user-defined formulas. Reductions can be entered individually for each of the 32 possible price groups. With these functions, the user has all options to adopt the system to their individual pricing strategy.

Information and Notices

All basic data (clients, promoters, events, shows and order) have notices and news flashes attached to them, which users can ask for the latest news anytime.

ELEKTRA Accounting & Evaluating

Management information

The ELEKTRA Accounting & Evaluating program is assigned to handle elementary economical functions and for generate further information requested by management, controlling or other compartments or persons. Additionally all print layouts used by the reservationsystem can be grafically edited at this central point.

Statistics of turnover values can be produced for all debtors depending on different order dates.

Invoices & reminder

ELEKTRA Accounting & Evaluating and Microsoft Excel together are a powerful team to account shows and to point out current sales.Acknowledgments, invoices, collection series (reminder, request for payment and final collection letter) and modification notices will be generated and printed by the invoice function.

Account/Data export

In the program integrates Data-Exchange with every accountancy system which can read ASCII or ANSI-Files.Wherever it is ingenious, all datas can be printed and exported into textfiles to import them with other programs for generating statistics, diagrams etc.

The ELEKTRA Floor Plan Editor

Stadium Overview

The key to the the ELEKTRA Reservation System is the definition of floor layouts. Seats are easily created with a mouse and displayed graphically. Each seating attribute is then defined (price, group, tier, etc.). Profitability and attendance can be optimized by specifying an order of sales.

Floor Plan Overview

The complete seating layout of a cinema, theater or even a whole stadium can be defined quickly and effortlessly. The layout can be printed on a color printer showing price groups, tiers, sales order - almost any criteria. The Floor Plan Editor was designed to make it a snap to change seating layouts, making ELEKTRA the software of choice. It is easy to add, change and check floor plans. Each floor plan accommodates up to sixteen (16) variables with differing seating layouts.

Floor Plan Caculation

The Floor Plan Editor has an integrated spreadsheet for INSTANT reports. Projected sales can be calculated globally or by price group, or other criterion. The Floor Plan Editor can calculate "what-if" scenarios to judge the effect of pricing or sales on profit. At the touch of a button, management has all the information they need for a successful marketing strategy and can react instantly to any changes.

Requirements

Hardware

IBM PC-AT’s with at least an 80586 133 MHz CPU and 64 MB memory. SVGA (Super VGA) graphic card supporting a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. SVGA color 15" monitor, MS/Windows supported mouse, any printer capable of printing graphics, preferably color graphics (laser, inkjet...) for printout of hallplans. We recommend Intermec Type 201 card printers for ticket printouts.

Software

Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows/NT, Windows/2000, Windows XP. Microsoft EXCEL 5.0 or higher is recommended for statement of accounts broken out by class/category. For large multi-user installations, a Novell network running Netware/386 5.x is required (or small networks with a Windows Server 2000 or 2003). Or for UNIX installtions with SQL database a bigger system depending on the database requiaments.

Prerequisites

If you have experience in using MS/Windows and Windows compatible programs, using ELEKTRA should be easy for you. The ELEKTRA system follows the Microsoft Windows Interface Application Design Guide. You need to understand the relevant ticketing concepts to successfully create hallplans.
