Maximize fan and visitor experience in stadiums with seamless outdoor-to-indoor navigation and real-time location and data information.

It’s time to revisit the fan and visitor experience in stadiums and look into ways to optimize in-venue technology.

Challenges

To accommodate varying volumes of visitors, stadiums are often big and complex buildings with multiple entry and exit points that don’t always offer the most intuitive way of moving around. Put simply, it’s easy to get lost. And with many people making their way around the venue at the same time - be it before the game, afterwards, or during a break - traffic flows are unlikely to be spread out evenly during the event. This is a recipe for long lines at concession stands and toilets, as well as for challenges for the security management at the stadiums.

Amongst visitors with limitations to mobility can be a challenge. More often than not, buildings are not entirely accessible when it comes to wheelchair users or people with other mobility issues, and when elevators or ramps are available, they are often hidden away and can be difficult to find.

Solution

The solution is dynamic mapping and wayfinding technology for stadiums. MapsIndoors supports outdoor-to-indoor navigation which ensures a seamless experience that navigates the visitor from their home to and all their way to their seat. For accessibility purposes, MapsIndoors can easily be set to avoid stairs and guide users to their seat via a fully accessible route.

But MapsIndoors is more than just wayfinding. For security reasons, management can utilize heat mapping to assess whether a certain area has too many people in the same place at once and deploy staff to handle the situation. For venues with VIP sections, it is possible to offer profile-based routing, enabling VIP guests with directions to areas that general ticket holders can’t access.

Easy management for multipurpose venues

Many modern stadiums are home to various event types. Sports games, concerts, and other live entertainment often have guests flocking the venues. With a dynamic mapping solution, it becomes easy to change the map layout and style based on the event, whether it’s a concert that requires floor seats or an event style layout with space for extra booths.

It’s highly unlikely that stadiums will stop being an attraction for sports fans and concert goers, but to take a step away from the familiar stadium experience and position oneself as a frontrunner in the stadium industry, new and innovative measures must be considered. With MapsIndoors, we’re entering a new era of stadium technology.
